Step 1: Confirm the Fridge Is Actually Getting Power

Sounds basic, but here's a fact: a refrigerator that's completely dead has a different problem than one that's not cooling. Check these first:

• → Is the interior light on when you open the door? → If yes, the fridge has power.
• → Do you hear any humming or fan noise? → If yes, something is running but not cooling.
• → Check your circuit breaker** Look for a tripped breaker in your electrical panel.

If the fridge has no power at all, fix the power issue first. Check the outlet, breaker, and cord before going further.

Step 2: Check the Temperature Settings

LG refrigerators have digital controls that can accidentally be changed. Kids, pets, or even bumping into them while loading groceries can shift settings without you noticing.

The factory default settings are:

Signs of compressor problems: clicking without starting, stopping, a buzzing or rattling sound, or complete silence are all signs of compressor problems.
